Gingerbread Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting


There’s nothing better than gingerbread around the holidays. From gingerbread men to gingerbread houses, the decorating with candies and frosting makes this treat the spotlight of holiday baking! I had a lot of fun with this recipe especially the frosting. Cream cheese frosting is so good and I love when its just slightly sweet. I don’t usually add a whole lot of sugar in my cream cheese frosting because I am looking for that tart cheese flavor instead of an overwhelming sweet. I feel like that is the whole point of a cream cheese frosting.

These gingerbread bars are soft and chewy, sweet and have a very subtle tart with the frosting. But lets not forget that the decorating is the best part! You can use any festive sprinkles that you want, add colored cream cheese frosting to create designs, add colored sugars, and so much more!

I know this recipe is a hit because my husband isn’t too fond of gingerbread in general and he actually loved these bars. He continued to eat them and not just to appease me! At least I hope so! I am going to say this was a winner for him regardless which makes me happy, and we all know the saying! Happy wife, happy life!
